Artistic, Interpretive, & Philosophical Inquiry, Historical Perspectives
This course focuses on the emergence and consolidation of modernity in Spain from the eighteenth century to the present. Readings and discussions of representative literary and artistic movements of modern Spain, including the Enlightenment, Romanticism, Realism, Naturalism, the Avant Garde, Modernism, and Postmodernism in terms of their historical, intellectual, artistic and cultural contexts. Prerequisite: SPAN 3300 or placed out of SPAN 3300. Enrollment not allowed for 4th year Spanish majors.
