This class is easy if you understand how the distributions work as opposed to just memorizing the formulas. The tests he gives will test your understanding of these concepts. Doing the homework will help significantly, but make sure you're not just memorizing formulas..

Professor Maybee is probably my favorite professor that I've had at UVa. His lectures are pretty straightforward and make the material a whole lot easier to understand than just reading the textbook. He makes the class as fun as statistics can be, integrating real-life examples and starting each class with a clever word game. He really makes a point that if you put in the effort, he will do all he can to help you do well in the class. Work load isn't too bad; standard weekly homework set, weekly quizzes, 2 midterms, a project (fairly simple and somewhat fun), and a final. If you're looking for a math class to take, I might even take this just for Professor Maybee, he's great!

Personally, I really didn't like this class. But not because of Maybee. He is a very interesting and accessible professor who really tries to make the subject enjoyable. His tests aren't bad and the homework doesn't take too long. If you've never taken a statistics class, though, it's kind of hard to wrap your head around some of the stuff at the end of the course.

This is the best math class ever. Not too difficult and the teacher is very understanding and grades very fairly. If you do your work and go to lecture usually, you will do well.

Professor Maybee is the one of the best professors at UVA. Take this class with him if you have to. He also teaches multivar so take that wit him if you can. You won't regret it!

Professor Maybee is one of the most fair professors at this University. He is very organized, tells you exactly what you need to know, and preaches good note-taking. He explains things in very simple terms and makes things easy to understand. I highly recommend that you take APMA 3110 with Maybee as well as APMA 212 if you haven't already.

John Dallas Maybee is one of the best professors I have had at UVA, very enthusiastic, approachable and effective. If you don't take it with him then you are selling yourself short.
