The class is difficult. It's usually required, and I believe Fulgham is probably one of the better at UVA. You may've already heard about taking diff. eq. at your community college over the summer. Keep in mind, you will probably use the material in your future job.

While Fulgham was the best professor for Diff Eq, he had the best students because of his reputation. Because of this, his tests had a higher average and the final grade had less of a curve. When I took it, half the class were Rodman scholars so it took a bit of effort to get the grade.

Fulgham is a good professor. His notes are easily to follow and he picks good examples to do in class. Though not the most enthusiastic professor, he does throw small jokes in his lectures. Also, very accessible and will really take his time to help you if you come go to his office hours.

Professor Fulgham is easily one of the best professors I've had so far at UVA. He writes everything very neatly on the board and explains things well. His fourth hours were the most effective fourth hours I've ever been to and were very helpful in completing the homework. The material in this course was difficult but Fulgham made it accessible. The only thing is that he is very sensitive about students talking in class.

Homework: Ridiculous amount of homework, but it really helps you understand the material. Actually doing the homework by yourself will help you in the long run. Be ready to spend about 7 hours on the first homework set and about 4 to 5 hours on the other homework sets. Due on Friday after Quizzes. Quizzes: Easy, sometimes its a problem straight from the homework set. Once a week. There is no quiz on the same week as an exam. Exams: There are 3 exams which all fell on Wednesday nights. They are far from difficult if you did the homework honestly. Fulgham is a good professor. From what I've heard, don't get Wells. Fulgham explains everything thoroughly. The final exam will be easy to study for depending on how much effort you put into this class throughout the semester.

Good professor, a bit quiet but will tell a funny joke out of the blue. Make sure to study for exams cause he will trick you otherwise. ;)

Prof. Fulgham is extremely organized in presenting materials. Lectures are clear and grading is fair because he makes it very clear what's on the exam. He sometimes throws in funny analogies.
