Kershaw is engaging and eloquent. He is also hilarious in lecture, but can be somewhat unpleasanat and harsh on a personal level. I loved the material, however, and loved the class. Bibler was good, but not great; could afford to be more engaging, especially at 8:30 am.

Great class if you are interested in English or medieval history. Lectures are engaging, but make sure you go to section prepared.

Good class for the 3000-level. Grade is based on midterm, final, two 7-8 page papers, and participation in discussion. Get John Terry as a TA. Also, if you come into class late or cough/sneeze loudly, Kershaw will definitely call you out on it, so be prepared.

Not too hard of a class. Ryan Bibler was a cool TA and was really great, as was Prof. Kershaw. Lecture attendance is relatively unnecessary as are some of the readings. Easy enough class.

Kershaw is an incredibly enthusiastic teacher. He turns what could be pretty dry material into a very entertaining class. Definitely recommend to those looking to cover their history requirement. Not too much reading and pretty easy for a history class.

Kershaw is without question the most enthusiastic and engaging history professor I have ever had. His lectures are extremely entertaining and interesting. For a 300 level class, the work involved is very minimal, and the exams are very fair. I found the papers challenging, though because they require a great deal of dry reading to successfully write them. Overall, this course is a must take!

As an engineering student, I try to take some of the more interesting classes in the college. I really made a great pick with this class. Kershaw is a very energetic and interesting professor. I knew nothing about the topic, but left the class with an extreme interest and intention to peruse further study in the area for fun.

The class traditionally consists of only two fairly short and simple papers. There is also a midterm that consist of terms (drawn from list that you are given), and fairly simple passage identification. As an engineering student, this class was by far and away the least work I had that semester. However, that is not to say that I did not learn a great deal. In fact, I think this is my favorite class that I have taken in three years.

My TA (Otis) was very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend selecting her if given the option.

This professor is awesome! There is a substantial amount of reading but the class is definitely worth it. Professor Kershaw tells you what to expect on the midterm and final, so there aren't any surprises.
