If you can learn well by taking notes and don't need a lot of guidance by busywork, this is the Econ 201 class to take. Mirman only has a midterm and final, no textbook and no discussion sections. Personally, I don't think the class is very enjoyable, since it's not as conceptually oriented as it is graph oriented, so I would recommend another teacher.

There is no discussion section. A majority of the work for the problem sets and readings are individual. If you can get by the bluntness of the professor, you can do fairly well in the class.

This class only has two tests and your grades depend on them. His first test is are but the final is easy. Overall, an easy class.

He doesn't try to teach the class well.
He tries to leave just because. But class overall CAN be fun.

Mirman isn't at all accessible and truly doesn't care to get to know students. That said, he's a very entertaining lecturer and decent teacher. Make sure to do the problem sets, as they make and break you. I got a D- on the midterm but made up for it on the final, and got a B+ in the class. He recognizes and rewards hard work.

There is no book, discussion sections, homework, or emailing the professor. There are just two exams; a midterm and a final. Somehow people manage to do okay in this class, but if you actually want to learn econ well, take Elzinga. This class is also very math oriented.

Basically do well on the final and you'll get a decent grade, even if you fail the midterm

Esay, but you probably wouldn't learn much from his class.

Mirman is blunt and sometimes a bit rude, so if you can't tolerate your professor picking on you then you might want to avoid this class. But there are no discussion classes, there's no textbook, and no real assignments besides the problem sets. Take notes in class and make sure you do the problem sets because the midterm and the final are based off them. Don't worry if you don't do well on the midterm because the final is much easier and basically becomes your course grade.

Pay attention in class, understand the lectures. Grade is based on the midterm and final - if you understand the problem sets, you will be fine. All in all a very entertaining class.
