This class is completely pointless. I've been told that it isnothing like COMM school, it's just a weed out class. The lectures are incredibely dull and the class is completely disjointed because you go through 4 professors. I will say Lindgren who taught the marketing unit was excellent, a very enjoyable unit. The problem with the class was that much of it was reading and slides during lecture, while the tests were mathematical application of the material, which we had very little practice with. The Disussion is supposed to be where you get your practice in for this, but the discussion is pointless because the professors and the TA's do not do a good job communicating with one another, and the points from the disucssion section are so easy to get you learn nothing from the work you do do.
studying and UNDERSTANDING the material is what makes the difference from doing well and average in this class.
This class is a pre-req, and it's not fully engaging but it gives a good idea if Commerce is right for you.
Fun class. Introduces many of the concentrations in the Comm School.
if you're pre-comm, you have to take the class so there's no avoiding it and its professors. it definitely sucks, there's a lot of reading, pop quizzes about the wall street journal, and pointless excel/access assignments in lab. the tests aren't terrible, just memorize the book
Some parts were really fun, but most of it was boring. The curve was nice though.
Atchison is funny in a different way than most other professors. Overall, he's okay but the content of the course is too packed and could be laid out better.
Somewhat boring at times, but overall worthwhile class to take. It's good to know the overall concepts of business.
Good introductory Commerce course. Even if you aren't precomm, this is a great class to get an understanding of the business world.
