This was my first Spanish class at UVA. Eliud is extremely welcoming, personable, and charismatic. He made an effort to learn all of our names and interact with each of us. He is very hardworking, and he was always available during office hours to expand on edits he had made to any of our essays or projects. I appreciated how much he cared about each of us succeeding. Each Spanish course is the same from teacher to teacher, so what makes the class is really the type of instructor you get.

The course is very structured and a lot of the work just feels like busy work. Eliud was a wonderful professor and a pretty lenient grader. He was very friendly and pretty funny. He spoke a bit fast sometimes which made him difficult to understand, but overall the class environment was pretty fun and I enjoyed getting to know everyone throughout the semester.
