Super easy class. The questions on the test come directly from the notes in class. I would do the reading for the essay questions. At least get the main points.

Very interesting class. Bob is a great lecturer. As others have said, there are four tests and possible questions are put up beforehand. They are very easy to study for and there is never too much reading. However, I would also agree that the grading is quite arbitrary. TAs will mark you down for not having every single detail. Going to lecture is more important than doing the readings, the exams come from lectures.

All answers for exams are provided through lecture but to get an A you need a GOOD TA and the ability to repeat his notes verbatim. This was some of the most arbitrary grading I have witnessed at this University. This class does not leave much room for thinking on your own. Lectures are mundane and boring, although the material is interesting. Bob on the other hand really needs to move on. His many failed attempts to be entertaining at lecture are not worth attending class. I went to maybe 7 classes and came out with an A-. As said before you must repeat his lecture notes verbatim. The problem with this is that he usually gives you at least 12 essays to memorize for the exam. If you absolutely must take this class...plan ahead and join a study group. Otherwise steer clear it is not worth the headache.

I really enjoyed this class. Bob is obviously very knowledgeable about his subject. He's pretty enthusiastic too, and the only reason I would fall asleep in class was because 9:00 is a bit early. VERY easy tests, just go to lecture and you're fine.

This was a really interesting course. Professor McConnell has really great and entertaining lectures. He provides test questions before an exam. There isn't really a lot of work involved. There are midterms/final and an easy assignment. I never really read the books and I didn't have to study much for the exams at all. Great course

This class is easy as can be. 4 tests, each is two essays, and a list of possible essay topics is posted at least a week before the exams. No final, just a fourth test. A very interesting class, and does not require ANY work outside of class. Nobody reads anything. I had Peipei as a TA, and she was fair. No matter who your TA is, they will waste an hour of your time every week but it is important to speak up and participate in discussion so that they know who you are and give you better grades.

i fell asleep in every class, really boring. The reading and lectures rarely conincided. It didnt help that i got the worse TA, John. Overall not what i was expecting in the course, major disappointment.

Don't have Peipei as your TA! She's nitpicky and not that fair. Try to get another person...anybody else!
