I took this class with Sylvie and I really enjoyed it. There is a lot of work that you have to do outside of class, but I never felt too overwhelmed, as it's all pretty spread out. We would usually teach ourselves the material at home, and then in class Sylvie would go over some powerpoint slides about the material and we would do a lot of activities working with the material. She was very good at making sure that everybody had a chance to participate. The assessments were not too difficult if you study the material. In-class exams include listening, reading, and writing sections. I think the most difficult part of the class was the Oral Exam. You have to sit in the room with her (once by yourself and once with a partner) and speak French to her, along with answering her questions. She's not too harsh of a grader, though. Make sure you study the material and vocab at home, practice the activities, turn everything in on time, participate in class, and you will do fine.
