Perceptions of America Abroad
Course Description
September 11, 2001, brought heightened interest in how America is perceived abroad. This class examines competing theories of why states should care about how they are percieved by governments and populations in other countries, and then examines evidence concerning both elite and popular perceptions of the U.S. during the Cold War, in the 1990s, including inside Saddam Hussein's regime, and especially since 9/11 in several regions.
