Chris is great. As a non-ASL speaking student, it was really neat to get to hear him teach the class, but to also watch the interpreter relay to him what we were saying in ASL. The class is discussion driven, but the readings are fairly interesting and the discussions are lively, so it encouraged me to do the readings every day. The course mixes ASL, linguistics, sociology, psychology, literary criticism, and several other topics and fields. If you don't like one particular topic, you know you'll only stay on it for a maximum of three class periods. Course/discussions are cumulative, but it's really rewarding if you're willing to put in the 2-3 hours of prep work per class.
