I took the course topic: Archaeology of Africa with LaViolette. She is very passionate about what she does, but the lectures are very dry. She can be very vague and I think she expected us to do too much reading each week. The tests were a 3 of 5 for difficulty, the problem being that there was so much information to study. African archaeology is very unique but I feel like the class would be better if there wasn't so much information to study. I think there were 2 in class midterms and a take home final. I ended up getting an A-. I didn't do many readings, but had a study group with good people, and also crammed hard for the midterms.
