LOVED this class! I was nervous to take this class since it had not been taught before and thought it might be hard. Professor Benitez is extremely social and knowledgable on indigenous people in Latin America which made asking questions very easy. This class was hands down one of the most interesting and easiest classes I have taken at UVA. There are lectures on Tuesdays for which readings are due and discussions on Thursdays which are actually very fun and broad. The readings can get long at times but skimming is totally fine. Weekly quizzes are take home and open note. I got As on all the quizzes without studying, so it is not stressful. Participation is 30%, quizzes (20%), midterm is an outline for the final paper (20%), and the final paper and presentation are the rest. Take this class!!!!!!
