No homework. Tests and weekly quizzes only at level of final. Funny nice guy.

Funny guy and he's real relaxed during the class and will joke around. However, he doesn't take any crap. If you're joking around or talking, he'll make you uncomfortable. But he makes studying multi-var calculus very easy and....dare I say it....mildly interesting.
Professor Horgan made a math course fun. He frequently tells jokes to keep the material from getting stale and is very good at actually teaching everything. His quizzes and tests are short, but resemble the homework, so they're usually not a surprise.
One of the best math teachers i have ever had. A truely enjoyable class. If you go to class you will learn the material. A really nice guy too who is very enthusiastic about teaching and calculus
The fact that he sometimes makes funny comments in lectures doesn't cancel out the fact that it is still a hard class, but at least it's more enjoyable. He's easy to understand, goes through the material at a good pace, and is fair.
Horgan is a great math professor. He's interesting and he livens the class with his running commentary. The tests/quizzes are relatively easy material-wise, but he is a HARSH grader. Class attendance is expected and mandatory, but it's a fun class to go to and he really does teach. To the person discussing Beck vs. Horgan: Beck is a better teacher for the lower levels (APMA 109 and 111) but Horgan is better suited for APMA 212.
Professor Horgan was the best instructor I ever had in College. Now, I've heard a lot about Professor Beck, but since I never had a course with her I can not credit nor discredit her reputation. I can, however, assure you that Professor Horgan is great. Unlike many of the math teachers in the E-school, Horgan is not an Engineer ... he's a mathmatician, and I think that makes all the difference.
If you have the opportunity to take Horgan, I highly suggest it. Plus, space in his class is still around well after Mary Beck's course has filled up.
Really interesting and engaging professor. Teaches the material well, accompanied by many a sarcastic quip. The material is tough however. Plan to study a decent amount.
