Woodman is a brilliant and accomplished man. He also has a great sense of humor! However, he teaches in the completely impersonal British style. A friend of mine (a first year in his first upper-level Latin class) in the class went for office hours to get advice in Translating and was told to go back to 202. The Final was worth 75% of the grade, with the other 25% is a midterm. He grades translations more precisely and harshly then anyone else I've ever encountered. Grad students and fourth year majors love him, but if that's not you, stay away.
