This class was interesting because it was a single group research project that you complete over the course of the semester. There were some issues with the structure of the class, but Professor Volden was very receptive to feedback so I think he will change it if the class is offered again. I would definitely recommend this class if you want to dive deep into a specific topic for the whole semester. The beginning of the semester is a lot of preliminary work like coming up with a research topic, forming your hypotheses, and doing background research. The second half is more about writing your paper and revising it heavily (you turn in two drafts for a grade before turning in the final at the end). Professor Volden's feedback is very thorough, so you know your grade will only continue to go up from the first rough draft (which everyone scored pretty low on) if you fix the mistakes he identifies.
