This class is very lab intensive and you spend most of your time learning about different microscopy and characterization techniques. Prof. Fitz-Gerald sometimes gets caught up in very technical descriptions but the tested material was not very difficult. You would have to try to not do well in this class. Fitz will help you with anything and as long as you go to class, the tests are no problem at all. This is a very useful class for those who want to pursue materials science research and overall is pretty easy.

Really cares about his students. Not a difficult class as long as you do well on the final group project

the class is very unorganized and can be confusing at times but the professor is amazing and a lot of fun in class. He is also really easy to talk to and always willing to listen to concerns or questions. GO TALK TO HIM if you are having any problems. The TA's can sometimes be useless.

Fitz is awesome. He gives you a great idea of what working in the MSE field is all about. You also get tons of hands on experience with the equipment in the materials science labs. Lectures can be a little tedious at times, but Fitz's humor and the labs more than make up for it. Other than the final project, there is very little homework for this class.
