Great instructor that really cares about his students understanding the material. The material in this class isn't too bad and it isn't a ton of work. However, you do need to stay on top of things or else you'll be lost when working on the in class assignments

The homeworks were generally very short and easy, tests were also pretty easy. However, he is an extremely dry and boring lecturer. He seems to have a much more application-based background compared to other math professors at UVA, so his proofs were hand-wavy and very hard to follow. At times he seemed to get lost in his own logic and was not always the most prepared.

This is probably my favorite course I've ever taken at UVA. Imbrie is a good professor, and picks some very interesting material to cover. Add in the fact that the textbook is actually readable, and you get a great class. Strongly recommend. Math majors will probably dislike this course, because Imbrie does only one or two proofs the entire semester, preferring to focus on applications, which for me, was fantastic.
