Herbst is a very polarizing figure. I know a lot of people who think he's a bit arrogant but I didn't have a problem with that. I think he's a very good lecturer and perfect for Complex Analysis, where his ability to explain theorems shines. This wasn't an easy class, because the material is all very new and different and nontrivial, but I found it very valuable and would highly recommend.
