Really interesting class, and really one of the few aerospace courses at UVa. Matlab intensive, but the book has tons of documentation. It all builds upon itself so make sire you understand what you're doing as you go through the material. Thornton is decent at lecturing, but more valuable in office hours. The tests are conceptual and kind of difficult to study for, but you at least get to use a crib sheet.
