This is probably my least favorite period of English literature, but I loved going to class. Cushman (and Michael Levenson) made every lecture a celebration of the development of literature and their presentations were so wonderful, I often felt like I should clap at the end of class.

Cushman does an excellent job of narrowing down his lectures to two or three main points and makes these points evident to the class. His lectures are well-structured and easy to follow.

The lectures are engaging, humorous, and quite inspiring. As long as enough effort is made, the course should be quite enjoyable.

Cushman and Levenson themselves are great, but they don't affect your grade at all. Since this is a requirement for the English major, you probably don't have a choice about taking it, but you can choose a great TA--Rebecca Strauss. She is witty, grades fairly, enjoys the material, and has the best paper extension policy I've ever encountered. I've actually had her for 2 classes (the other was my ENLT prereq) and she is the reason why I loved this class.

This class was really great. I enjoyed the material way better than 3810. The professor are very engaging and even make some of the less interesting subjects very enjoyable. The exams were also very easy. Take great notes and study and you should be fine. As far as your TA goes, you really have to learn to write to their liking and make sure you do the reading or at least sparknote because there are weekly reading quizzes. Depending on your TA they can either be simple or sometimes trivial. Overall Great class!
