I'll preface my review by saying I'm a student in the Secondary English Education program, so you know I like to read. What you do in this course is just that - read 15 young adult books from different genres, discuss issues in YA lit on the forum every week, lead a discussion on the forum one week, and make three really cool projects related to the implementation of YA lit in the classroom: a glossary of literary terms (very useful for future English teachers), a book trailer (so fun to make, and also a great way to familiarize yourself with different presentation platforms), and an annotated bibliography of the books you read (really makes you think about how you would use these books in the classroom). Because of the student-led format of the discussion and the variety of perspectives offered over the course of the class, learning was incredibly collaborative and discussions were always interesting. This course is easily in the top three classes I've ever taken.... just don't leave all your reading for the end :)
