Prof. Hays is extremely knowledgeable, but he has NO faith in the honor code and HONESTLY thinks that all students cheat. That being said, the midterm and final (combined 60% of your grade) were VERY easy. The paper, which is 30% of your grade, was not difficult either, but Hays lowered everyone's grade by about 3 pts for no reason. However, given the simple tests, these 3 pts did not mean much. This class had a lot of reading (especially towards the end of the semester), but if you take the time to do it, the class is cake.

Incredibly boring class. I slept through lectures, didn't do any reading, and showed up late for the final but still got an A. Sounds interesting but is a pretty big waste of time.
All Hays taught was greek civilization and very few myths. Avoid this class with hays if you actually want to learn about myths.
This class is not an easy A do not take it unless you are interested in Greek mythology. I took this to fulfill humanities requirement and regret it because the material did not interest me (there are better/easier classes you can take to fulfill requirements). The class itself isn't hard if you do the readings and the lectures seemed interesting to other people but it was not for me. I am premed and this was not good to take along with science classes. If you have a vast background knowledge in greek myth it will help a lot but generally do not recommend.
