A very interesting class. Do the readings and the problems sets very carefully. Attend class and make sure to understand her slides. Most of what comes on the midterms and final is based on her slides and the problem sets. However, reading the articles is also important.
She likes to repeat previous midterm/final questions so it would definitely help to review them.
Learned some interesting things in this class. Whether or not you do the readings it is very helpful to know what they are about for the tests. Group paper. Problem sets. Gives the most important slides on a handout for every class. Sometimes her lectures were sometimes confusing and sometimes she mis-spoke and confused me, but you have the important information on the slides. She is genuinely wants to see you do will and will be very helpful in terms of giving practice midterms and being available for office hours. Ignacio TAed and tended to tell us that everything was "so easy" when really discussion just confused the hell out of me. However, new material is covered in discussion, often problem set stuff, and sometimes you might be tested on it. Ignacio didn't come to class so there was definitely some disconnect between lecture and discussion. Harder class than I thought it would be.
This class was much harder than I anticipated. I had a hard time connecting to the material, it was not very interesting. I thought the class would be more policy-based but it was more math-heavy than expected and more Intermediate Macro/Micro mathematics, not Intro Micro/Macro. The test questions were so tricky too (unless you like SAT style questions that aren't based on the material) and you always ran out of time. I would probably not take this class so long as it is online because it was always a rushed lecture and the expectations were unclear. The other course forum comments are not very useful.
