I really enjoyed this class. In summary, the class is not so much about theoretical economics and graphs like a macro or micro class would be, but it is about topics like crime, discrimination, healthcare, tax codes, economic repercussions of climate change/pollution, etc. Essentially we listened to 1-2 hours of podcasts and ~1 hour of recorded lectures per week with a small project every other week. Keep in mind that was during Coronavirus and remote learning but Professor Kripalani, on top of being very knowledgable, is very kind, down to earth and funny and is not there to punish you, as she explains in the first class. This class has helped me learn so much about economic problems facing this country and what potential policies could alleviate those issues, which is exactly what I was looking for as someone who is interested in studying politics/public policy. I had previous high-school experience with economics but I can confidently say that this course is a good introductory economics course that also has plenty to teach for those who have already had ECON experience. The homework is easy and interesting along with the material, there is not a lot of work, and you will learn plenty of new and interesting material (along with the fact that this somehow fulfills a QCDA prerequisite requirement!). I would highly recommend this class with two final disclaimers: first, professor Kripalani leans left politically and it can be easy to tell at points (didn't bother me as I am liberal), and second, I took this class in an online format during Covid so things may change from what I have said above.
