This was a great class. Dr. Guilford was interesting and informative with his lectures. Unfortunately, last year was the last year of this professor teaching the course so the experience might be different for upcoming students.

Dr. Guilford is pretentious, pompous, arrogant asshole. That being said he is very smart and definitely knows what he is talking about. His midterms aren't too difficult, they just require that you pay attention in lecture. There is one huge paper you need to write which is much more of a concern. The class was relatively easy seeing as how I got a B+ with minimal effort. I would recommend this class solely for the material and how interesting it was, but definitely not for the professor.

The entire class is focused on how biology is incorporated into various pathologies which makes it very interesting. The paper is hard but very rewarding.

Guilford was by far my favorite professor. He really alters your perspective of what a great professor is. Guilford gives a really unique perspective on molecular biology in relation to disease pathologies. Overall, a must take.

Interesting class. The tests are really easy if you just go back through his slides a couple times the night before/day of. Research paper is 40% of your grade and it takes forever to write (make sure you get a group you're comfortable spending a lot of time with).

Professor Guilford is an amazing teacher. He is incredibly engaging and does a wonderful job at making the course material more understandable by relating it to interesting diseases and ailments. The paper is an interesting experience and helps introduce students to the actual type of technical writing we'll have to deal with in the future. This is probably one of the best classes in BME. Amy did a wonderful job as TA and was always a good resource for advice about the paper.

Guilford is a really good teacher. He encourages class participation and attendance (you will get extra credit if you attend class and participate actively). The tests are not too bad, just know everything on the slides, especially the blue words. The biggest thing about the class is the paper. For our year he tried something new, getting us to write up a paper on results from his lab. The paper was difficult to write, but it was a great learning experience because it forced us to become very knowledgeable about the material. THe paper is in a group, which can be annoying, but it worked out well for us. We put a ton of work into the paper and ended up with a very good grade. He's definitely fair about that.
