This has been my favorite biology class so far. Mrs. Cronmiller is an amazingly kind teacher who will always help her students outside of class. I personally thought the class content was very interesting: it expands upon the concepts learned in BIOL 3010 and Mrs. Cronmiller gives many examples to how how the concepts and techniques are used in real life. I also highly admired the occasional integration of ethics and discussion that one usually doesn't find in a biology class. I think the class would very worthwhile if you plan on pursuing any career in genetic analysis, genetic consultation, bioethics, or medicine. However, if you did not do so hot in 3010, you might find the increased difficulty of her tests and homework to be detrimental to your GPA. Overall, the professor is amazing and the class is pretty darn good too.

You learn about all the genetic diseases out there and their causes (if they're confirmed). Alot of things haven't been confirmed and so it's hard to study for the exams. But the weekly homeworks can be quite interesting, only if you make it interesting.. because it's generally research based homeworks. So if you really dig in and find interesting stuff, it'll be interesting. If not...it can be dull.

Human Genetics was the best Biology course that I have taken at UVA. It is was a course that I found was completely relevant to science today. What I found most valuable were the problem sets which forced us to use the NCBI database. In a sense we were learning in the new age of bioinformatics which is crucial to being biologist.
