This is a course based on lectures given by a different member of the Astronomy department each week. The speakers vary considerably in their ability to give lectures. Some, mainly the non-student-facing research professors, are poor speakers and will basically read off of a powerpoint regarding their field of study for a long, monotonous hour. Others- particularly Murphy and Sarazin- will actually keep you interested. After their lecture, each speaker will give you a homework assignment of their own design. Some involve math problems and some are essays, but no assignments were difficult or long.
