Instructor:
I did not like Maher. He was a poor communicator in terms of deadlines/expectations. He also was not super personable and he did not seem to care about students individual thoughts or needs. He was, however, an effective teacher. I learned a lot from his lectures, and I do believe that he teaches well. I know that many of my friends in the course were also disappointed in how he treated us, but they felt he was able to creatively teach.
Overall Review:
This course was very poorly organized. You will not know your grades throughout the semester. Instead, you will be given a grade in SIS. This makes it very frustrating to learn and improve your skills as you do not receive a lot of feedback. One benefit of this course was that we rarely had out-of-class work. It is also a fairly easy course IF you are comfortable understanding ASL and signing. I got an A and I rarely studied except for a brief review the day before an exam.
