One of my favorite professors at UVA and literally the only STS class I have ever enjoyed taking. Take with Elliott if at all possible. He assigns a lot of readings to prep for class, but the pre-class assignments aren't horrible or anything, they are just designed to get you thinking critically about the material. Elliott's style of teaching really feels more like a whole class, open-ended discussion than it does a canned lecture. He invited a couple guest speakers to our class who ranged from pretty drab to very engaging. In the last couple weeks of class, you do a group presentation on some STS topic of your choice. The debate day was my favorite.
