This course was a TON of reading/writing, but hands down the best class I've taken at UVA. If you're a sociology major/interested in social justice issues at all, TAKE THIS CLASS. I learned an incredible amount, Prof. Buckelew is approachable and extremely intelligent, and the readings were relevant to issues in the US today, which created really fascinating discussions. The worst part was having to read whole books (about hard topics) really fast and then having to write about them, but Prof. Buckelew is helpful and genuinely cares about her students.
