I loved Prof Ozment --- she's full of life and passion for the topic. She has high but achievable expectations for her course and students, which drives the energy in the class. She also let our class adapt the syllabus to what we liked (more writing-based, less test-based, etc.) She's a fair grader and provides interesting commentary. The course material itself is very interesting (if you like music) but the order we learned it in did feel a bit random.

Ozment is a really friendly teacher and extremely passionate about music. The class was more work than I expected (50ish page readings every week and writing two page summaries), but the content is interesting and Ozment picks a good selection of pieces. There are two projects during the semester, but they are not a very big deal to get done. The midterm was pretty exhausting, but if you pay attention/take notes during lecture then you'll be fine (midterm and final are open note). I would recommend this class if you're looking to fulfill the music history requirement for the music major.
