This class has been good for my Greek but I didn't enjoy it very much. It's a new course the department is offering; all the readings focus on the god Apollo. We read the Homeric Hymn to Apollo and some selections from Book IV of Herodotus, both of which were fun and interesting. However, the third reading is what really ruined the class for me: Euripides' Ion. Talk about your crappy and difficult plays!

Professor Clay... I have mixed feelings about Professor Clay. She is a well-known Homerist, so reading the Homeric Hymn with her was really great. However, she is very intimidating and has the ability to make even the most confident translator wet his/her pants with a simple glance. I feel that personal feelings about students play more of a part in her grading system than perhaps they should.
