I took Data Structures and Algorithms I with Professor Floryan. Students in the class came from all levels of experience, but Professor Floryan did a good job of teaching the basics while still keeping those that know Java challenged. Professor Floryan does a really good job taking each data structure, showing the need for it, showing how it would work, and working through it with the class. Though some may dislike the labs in his class, I would argue they are the most valuable thing he can do for us. Each lab consists of a prelab, where we implement a data structure, an in-lab, where we solve interview-style questions involving that data structure, and a postlab, where we experiment with the data structure and write a research-style paper on it. I highly recommend this class.
