This class was really straightforward and enjoyable and the activities and readings are quite fun. The homework and assignments consist of mainly play reviews, mind maps, and writing your own play. Overall, I would 10/10 recommend this class because the class activities were fun and the theatre was pretty chill. I also enjoyed watching the plays and writing about them.

Cady is very personable and friendly! She is great to talk to about the course, assignments, life stuff, etc. Preface note: I took this class partially for an easier class for my schedule, and also because I have a genuine interest in theatre. That being said, this course is not an easy A. You have to get a +95 for an A, and there are only 5 graded items: two tests, two papers (a Mind Map and a full essay), and the final project of creating a play with an assigned group. That said, it is doable. Go to class each day (she is flexible and willing to work with you if you can't), volunteer for stuff that feels uncomfortable (makes the class more memorable, engaging, and it's genuinely fun), and take notes when she lectures/during class discussions (helpful for tests and papers). We discussed a few plays in class, and while you may be able to skate by reading Wikipedia summaries/skimming, the tests can cover specific details from them that you may otherwise not be prepared for. On the whole, it's not a lot of work class-to-class. I would recommend putting time and effort into the assignments though, as I found that bare-bones effort is not enough (i.e. more is better). The final project was work, but also a lot of fun, which she always emphasized being the key thing to focus on. #tCFfall2021

I love Cady, she is super fun, nice, and understanding. This class is very active, so if you are wanting an easy class where you can sit in the back and do nothing, this is not the class. You have a lot of group work where you have to contribute. In addition she has you play a lot of games and share in class. You do a lot of different things in class like read plays, watch plays, go to a play, and even make a play. You truly learn a lot about theater.

I absolutely love Caty and cannot say enough good things about her and this class. As someone who loves seeing plays but was very much not a theater kid, I still had a lot of fun in this class. The plays are easy reads and the exams are easy. The final group play project was a highlight of my semester and a great way to meet a wide variety of people. Very easy A and some interesting content! My only note is the hour 15 minutes can tend to feel very long and she tracks attendance.

Cady is amazing! She genuinely tries to put her all into each lecture and puts a ton of thought into class-to-class exercises. They might seem silly at first, but they do correlate to the message and lessons into the class. Overall, very fun class, but a tough A (95+).
