Great class! If you've wanted to take an archaeology course at UVA, I would recommend this one, especially if you are from Virginia. Hantman is a great teach, especially if you are like me and love dry humor. Tempers each class with jokes and puns, what more could you ask? Similar to a history course, yet you learn what went undocumented from 12,000 BC through 1830 in Virginia. Not too difficult, do the reading (there's not too much), and reference specific articles (names) on the exam. There is a midterm, a final (not cumulative), and a final paper (research topic of your choosing). Exams are matching, short answer, and essay.

Pretty interesting material, and not too technical on the archaeology lingo. Hantman is a good professor, but a lot depends on the class- he engages and explains more the more you do the reading and ask your own questions...otherwise he just outlines things. Definitely interesting.
