I like Marcel's interactive lectures and his framework for value proposition. He can be kind of savage in a funny way. My ICE group went to him for help on our Margaritaville project and he was very helpful and insightful. Generally if you just follow his frameworks and student samples for the writing assignments, you'll get a good grade.

He will put you to sleep. How do I know? People fall asleep in his class. Margaritaville is a god awful corporate sponsor. Why? Well, when you have to do your semester long project, you have to come up with a new idea for Margaritaville to do. When you spend time with them during an evening Tuesday session, they are exceptionally unhelpful. You will likely spend many hours simply trying to figure out what to do your project on, which will suck. Why would they come to McIntire if they already have so many different business segments? Ffs. For Marcel specifically, he's every bit as boring as Gray, and almost as impatient. Marcel assigns you two projects. The first isn't horrible, but you will definitely hate doing it. The second was horrible. *I need to note very briefly that when I took this class, Fall of 2019, Marcel had to answer 75 minutes worth of questions about the second assignment because he refused to release any examples of past student work. After Fall of 2019, I believe you will be able to use past student work as a resource.* Moving on. I hated the second project because we did not practice similar, comparable examples. Thus, I had no idea how to do the assignment. It doesn't take a genius to know that when students ask you questions for 75 minutes, your assignment is trash. This man really sat there for 75 minutes answering questions and the possibility that it was a bad assignment literally never crossed his mind. That has to be the most obvious example of when a professor is terrible at what they do. Dang guys I really thought my streak of sh*tty professors would stop at McIntire but SIKE

The gratest ICE professor out there. This man does a wonderful job of tying all other areas of business into class and makes class so fun. You will learn so much from Professor Marcel. I am so thankful I have strategy with him because our cases and dicussion were at a much high level than other blocks. He treats everyone like they are consultants and he is so smart and well informed!

Lots of reading, but if you skim and remember main points you'll be fine. Stick to answering assignments in the format he shows on the slides, he likes things in a specific way. Make sure to participate actively in class and don't worry too much if your beginning assignment grades are lower, just make improvements and you'll be fine. Block 3 is the best, albeit one of the hardest due to the best quality professors who truly challenge you.

Professor Marcel is really relaxed, but he's still a good teacher. He is the block leader for Blocks 3 and 4, teaching Strategy in the Fall and Mergers and Acquisitions in the Spring. There's a lot of reading in the Fall, regardless of which block you're in, but Marcel does his best to make class entertaining.

Block 4 was excellent. The first semester of ICE is nothing like people make it out to be. Marcel loses some marks for his style of teaching, though; if you don't say exactly what he wants, he'll just keep asking the same question. Grey is excellent, and Patterson's portion of the class is a joke.

My least favorite teacher in block 3. Very much picks favorites, make sure you always agree with him if you want a good grade. Definitely knows his stuff though and teaches cases well. Also block 3 is probably the best so it's worth it to take him.

Block 3 (with Prof. Marcel and Gray) is the BEST ICE BLOCK by far. Note that it's also the hardest, though.

Profs. Marcel and Gray will *make* you participate in class. Strategy and Systems can be hard as the very first thing you do in ICE right out of what is usually a comparatively un-demanding 1st and 2nd year in college, but they are the best introduction to what the rest of the Comm School is going to be like. If you can do well, do the readings, participate in class, and bond with your ICE blockmates (whom you will be seeing a LOT over the course of the next semester) you will have one of the best ICE experiences you can have. Profs. Marcel and Gray really know their stuff, and although Prof. Marcel can be a little hard to get to know you'll really appreciate his advice and lessons when it comes time for internship interviews and stuff.

Grey is a really good professor, but it's harder to make Marcel happy.
