I loved Uncle Pat. He's such a fun dude hoo explains everything thoroughly to the class. He kinda fell off the wagon on putting homeworks up around mid-march so I'm not really sure how many homework points you needed for a 100%, but that was pretty chill because the homeworks weren't the most fun. By the syllabus I thought there would be a nice hefty curve, but I had a 91.2 and I got an A- so if there was a curve it was pretty measly. Still, I really liked him as an instructor, I thought his tests were fair and having three midterms means that none of them are really stressful and you feel prepared for the final.

Doesn't require too much time. We had 3 midterms worth 15 percent each, a final worth 40, and then the final 15% was free as long as you got something like half the clicker and homework points. Wilkie is pretty engaging, but the subject matter is not intrinsically interesting. Worth taking if you want to broaden your knowledge of how a business works.
Review the homework problems before the midterm (which are all multiple choice) and you should be golden.
The most boring class I've ever had the misfortune of taking. As nice of a person as he is, Wilkie is just bad at teaching. His lectures are pointless to attend, but you have to go anyway for clicker questions. Seriously, your best bet is to read the book thoroughly. Don't take this if you don't have to.
Wilkie actually understands and will try to help you with the material. For the most part, just do the homework on time and go to class to do clicker questions. To prepare for the final, read the book and do problems from past exams. Doing problems from past exams is probably the best advice. He changed the class in Fall of 2012 to include i-Clicker questions (but your grade won't matter if your get the answers right or not, just if you went there to participate). He also added a book at the beginning where he teaches "case studies" about different firms and incidents to show managerial accounting concepts. These are pretty dumb and the questions on the first midterm about them are nit-picky. The book costs 54 dollars and everything included in it can be found online for free through UVa's library. Homeworks aren't graded harshly, again they're mostly about whether or not you tried it. Wilkie is a nice guy. he seems like he wants you to understand the material. He won't stop for questions, so just blurt them out; he always answers them.
Wilkie is a cool guy. The class is the same difficulty level as Comm2010. Lecture is boring because he mostly does problems, but he does try to relate the material to real world situations. He gives you a lot of old exams and sample problems for the exams, which is a big help.
Wilkie is a riot in lecture, but at the end of the day all you need to succeed in this moderately difficult class is the ability to buckle down and read the text, which is excellent.
Wilkie is a really nice guy, and although accounting is known as being rather dull he at least tries to make it interesting. He's quite funny and really approachable. His grading is completely fair and his tests are just like his practice tests. If you put in the work and effort that accounting requires, you can get an a!
Found class to be rather dull...didn't end up going to the majority of lectures but obviously the class is necessary for all pre-comm students
not really sure what prof. wilkie lectured on, but he's extremely nice and means well. you have to take it for comm major, but otherwise, i'd skip out...I found prof. erickson's class much more insightful and interesting to attend
good guy. useful/interesting class, but the final exam will destroy your grade; expect it to drop a full letter or more. take a week or two to prepare and hope for the best is the advice i will give. the midterms were just fine.
