This class is just a slough of content to get through on McGraw Hill. I think it sucks that this is an online and asynchronous class because the content is just so tedious and it's difficult to stay motivated. Wouldn't recommend taking it unless you need to or are really interested in accounting. #tCFS25

This class is so boring, accounting majors need to realize you only live one time so why would you waste it on this. Horrible class

Its accounting. Jill is a really nice professor but I will always believe that accounting taught asynchronously is just ineffective. If your goal is to be successful in this class, I would just put in the effort to learn the content as its being taught rather than trying to cram it right before exams or creating cheat sheets. I think if you were able to survive financial, managerial is not significantly harder. The content is quite a bit less straightforward, but by now you should be comfortable with the course format and general vibes. The class averages were generally high (low A/high B) and I was able to end with an A without too much difficulty.

This is not a hard class, just a tedious and at times confusing one. I feel like Management Accounting is much less straightforward than Financial, and I also found the content of Financial to be more interesting. I don't have much to add to the other reviews - Professor Mitchell is incredibly nice, but the virtual nature of the class is tough (obviously, that's not her fault). It makes it much harder to actually retain any information - exams are open-textbook, so you can essentially teach yourself the content while you're taking the tests.

I'm not really sure how this class would be relevant to anyone who doesn't intend to be an accountant. It's good to know how businesses should keep track of money internally, but a lot of the content doesn't feel broadly applicable.

As others have said - if you're pre-Comm, take it. If you're not, find another class. Could be interesting if it was in-person.

This review is simple. If you are applying to Comm, take it. If you are not, don't. I think they are fixing this class going forward, shame they didn't do it earlier.

This course really should only be taken if you are applying to Commerce. I think it is a bit ridiculous that UVA makes students take a commonly required course online. That being said, it really is not super difficult if you stay on top of your work and study a decent bit for the exams. It is very easy to fall into the B+, A-, and A range if you put the appropriate amount of time in and stay consistent. The final grade is based on a points threshold, so do not lose points from messing up homeworks or practice because that can be the marginal difference between two grades.

I think it is ridiculous that Commerce majors are required to take this class.

Professor Mitchell is a nice person but this was absolutely one of the worst classes I've ever taken. It is so tedious and the homework was ridiculously long in my opinion. Being fully asynchronous did not help my experience either. The upside is that Prof. Mitchell is always willing to meet with you or grant an extension if requested.

I really liked Professor Mitchell, she was very kind, responsive, and a great communicator for the online class. While you probably will never meet her because this is an online class, I think that she is very flexible. This class is hard and requires a lot of self motivation to get the work done, but it, in my opinion, it is a lot easier than financial accounting because the content makes more sense.
