I loved this class a lot. It was really informative about diversity in the workplace and Prof. Leonard was really great! I would recommend trying to take this class if you can. It is low maintenance!

This is a 1 credit, 2 hour once per week, pass/fail class and great introduction to business if you are looking to apply to the comm school. The only two projects are an informational interview you conduct with a UVA alumna or someone else of your choice and a case study presentation, both of which are great practice for what you will have to do in comm/business in general. Rebecca Leonard is great, although this class mostly consists of guest lecturers (also great, s/o Professor Pentz and Professor Roberts), Having a means to communicate with Professor Leonard is also great since she is the one who oversees McIntire admissions when you apply your second year. Class time goes by so quick because the guest lecturers are usually pretty engaging making 2 hours seem like a 50 minute class. You have a corporate sponsor that allows you 2 networking events, during classtime and throughout the semester, which are great practice for when you actually begin networking. You have to apply to this class because they try to make it diverse as possible, and trust me it is which is awesome, but just write something genuine and as early as you can and they'll probably let you enroll. Last but not least, shoutout JOY JEFFERSON for being an awesome TA for this class.

This is a great class. You have to apply to the class, so I would suggest putting forward a solid application on SIS well in advance. The class teaches great group work, oral speaking, and professional business skills that will help you whatever career path you choose, even outside of business. I have also met great professors within the Comm school who are extremely kind and wise who have helped me with advising. Perfect class if you need the one credit.

Great seminar class for 1st and 2nd years interested in business. The class is overseen by Rebecca Leonard (Dean of Admissions for the Comm School), but is organized as guest lectures by different faculty who talk about various business topics. No homework or tests - just come to class once a week and be attentive.
