I loved this course! It is very easy (20 pages of reading per week) and the only "project" is to be a discussion leader. It is essentially impossible to get a bad grade in this course. Additionally, I love Cristina! She is so engaging, understanding and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this course.

Cristina Griffin teaches a great COLA. Not only is she engaging, but she's super in touch with her students and culture. Her COLAs are largely discussion based: we read a chapter of our book, go to class and spend 85% of it discussing the book in a group setting, 15% discussing college resources, and write a thought summary on an online discussion forum for homework. Griffin is lenient but she doesn't need to be because there is very little work in COLAs. Just read the chapter, write the discussion post, and contribute 1-2 per class and you will have an A+. Even better, you'll have a teacher who guides the discussion in a lively way and a resource in the English department.

Amazing class!!! I took the COLA One Great Book; we read The Nickel Boys and spent time each class discussing it. It was a really interesting book and I really enjoyed the discussions since they were pretty informal. The professor is super nice and covered a different advising topic each week, and sometimes even brought in guest speakers.
The workload for the class itself is really light. We read 1 chapter each week, had to write a short journal entry on it, and had to come up with a question for one of the class discussions.
