In spite of the name of this COLA, don't expect to read much of what we'd generally think to be "romance." Readings were short but even then, you could often get away with not reading them. Discussions were easy to participate in but weren't always that interesting. I personally found this class kind of boring, but I'd still say it was worth it to have Paul Jones as an advisor. He's a down-to-earth, super nice guy, and even if you're not interested in majoring in religious studies, it helps to have an advisor who actually cares. He always encourages me to reach out, relax, and be more adventurous in my course selection and has been very encouraging in times of stress!

The greatest part about this class is you get to have Paul Jones as your adviser. He is such a nice guy! The class is pretty relaxed and not stressful at all. The longest reading you will have will be maybe 15 pages tops with most being less (does not really take an hour most of the time). They are fairly easy reads as well. During class you discuss these readings after a group "presents" (not really a presentation just open discussion). There are two essays during the semester which are not difficult and you are given many topics to choose from. Would definitely recommend this class
