Roman Civ, if you find that topic interesting, is a pretty easy course. I had Myers and she was a pretty good lecturer (sometimes boring), but very fair. Her tests, assignments, and readings are very reasonable. For the most part, the readings correspond directly to the lectures themselves. When she assigns the paper, my advice is to stay on top of it, since you have to do it plus the reading (but it's really not that bad). All of her tests are fair--the only weird thing that the Classics Department likes to do is test you for Passage IDs (you have to recognize and describe passages from your assigned readings, but the TAs help you with those).

Good class if you're into lots and lots of reading or have read classics before. If you're just trying to knock out the historical studies and humanities requirement in one shot, don't take it. Chris is a hard hard grader, but it helps you on the midterm and final. The weekly papers killed my grade though. I wouldn't recommend this class to those non-classics people

This was a wicked awesome class! Professor Myers has a wonderfully wry sense of humor and a clear, accessible manner of speaking. The subject matter is epic to begin with, and I loved doing the reading. There are weekly 1-2 page writing assignments, but it isn't difficult to do well on them and they *really* help for the midterm/final, the one paper, and understanding in general. Seriously, this is one of the coolest courses that UVA offers--take Roman Civ!
