This class is very difficult. Chinese is one of the hardest languages to learn, and Prof. Tseng makes sure you have a basic understanding of it by the end of the first semester. She is a good teacher, although she can be intimidating in class sometimes. Don't take this class as filler credit. If you take it, make sure you are dedicated and prepared.

This is not an easy course. Chinese requires a lot of hard work and patience to get through. If you want an easy A, look elsewhere, but if you're looking to learn Chinese and learn it well, Tseng laoshi is fantastic. She seems a little intimidating and harsh at first, because she wants students who are dedicated and who will put in the work, but she's actually a really sweet person. You will get out of this class what you put into it, and if you want to keep up, you'll need to spend at least 1-2 hours on Chinese per night. The material isn't difficult, it just requires time. But I highly recommend taking it with Tseng laoshi--she's the best.
