This was an overall great class. Professor Brodie is awesome, extremely knowledgeable about the information, and a great lecturer. This was definitely one of my favorite classes taken at UVA, and I actually looked forward to going to class. The material is really interesting, especially if you liked the first unit in Evolution & Ecology. The class is not demanding at all. I never read the textbook, just studied lecture notes and did fine on the tests. There are 3 midterms but you drop one and don't even have to take the third one if you're already happy with your exam grade. No final, just a group presentation which can be a pain if your groupmates are bad but still better than a final exam. Besides that, just 3 really easy literature synopses done in groups that he picks. Brodie is seriously awesome and makes the class a lot of fun! Would definitely recommend!

You do not need a background in biology at all to do well in this class. The text book is not useful for the exams. Study the slides. This class is amazing. Brodie is awesome.
