If you don't have an extreme interest in plant biology, don't take this class. Professor thinks you care as much as he does, and plants are his life work. Lectures are hard to take notes on but necessary as his slides seem to intentionally hide important info that he will harp on in tests. Tests are difficult just because of the odd way he formats them/material he picks to ask/manner in which he asks questions.

Timko lectures on a lot of material and since there is no reading it's difficult to focus in on the most important points and follow his progression. I always felt that there was a massive amount of material to review before every test, and any of it could be on the test. The tests were short answer and some multiple choice
You have to keep up with his slide shows. Making your own study guide as the class goes along is very beneficial as he puts up his own study guide at the last minute. There is a lot of material but the tests are not hard. You just have to study as you go along.
this was not a typical biology class. you don't use the book at all. professor knows what he is talking about very much. spent three nights of solid work the whole semester cramming before each test and did very well.
This class is all memorization and it covers a ton of material. The tests are oddly formatted and hard to study for. There haven't been a whole lot of upper level Bio classes offered recently, but if you can avoid taking this class and take something else, I'd recommend it.
