A lot more writing than you might expect- your grade is mostly made up of a 7 page midterm and two 6 page papers as a final. Savage is a fair grader and really does care about his students (you're required to come to office hours once and he's very nice). He gives a lot of readings that take a lot of time but you don't necessarily have to read them all as long as you know enough to write the papers. Topic is pretty interesting if you like American history.

Professor Savage is very smart and knows his stuff. However, he is incredibly dry. Learning about the Puritans and other political theorists is not exactly exciting, and Savage may be a victim of the boring material. This class is in no way hard, and should be taken if you don't want to stress too much. Be warned: you will be bored...
