I really liked this course and recommend it to everybody because you genuinely get involved with the projects. They are all pretty basic consulting projects within the Charlottesville community and you get to meet people from Charlottesville organizations and give recommendations to them in person. There is never a right answer, but it definitely prepares you for a consulting career and really gets you thinking about real world problems starting with ongoing problems in the Charlottesville community. Fleming does a great job of explaining and just being an overall chill professor. He has some interesting stories sprinkled in here and there to make it fun. He also makes group work feel a little less unfair with the feedback we give every week and he makes it known in the syllabus if someone is consistently getting bad feedback, that they will get a lower grade or failure in the class. The tests feel a little subjective, but overall I'm happy with I got out of the class learning wise.

Fleming is an incredible teacher and this class provides an excelent systems foundation.
Great class, would recommend! Only issue for me was whenever I would ask for points back on a quiz (legitimate reason) I felt as if I was talking to a wall; my TA for SYS 2001 was not willing to negotiate. In fact, I felt she came across as a little rude. In other classes, like physics 2 and ODE, the TAs were much easier with which to work. Also, the grading rubric seemed somewhat arbitrary. That said I enjoyed the class.
Super chill class. An easy A/A- except the quizzes can be very rushed. Cody Fleming is a super chill guy but also extremely knowledgeable. The cases are a lot of fun but the last one can be challenging.
