Padron is an amazing professor. He is so well prepared for class and makes the class so interesting. He has pop reading quizzes which are a little annoying but actually enrich the discussion so much because everyone has read thoroughly for class. The readings are SO interesting and I am walking away with such an interesting and informed view of the conquista. I learned more in this class than any other Spanish class. It is a heavier work load but its worth it because you learn so much valuable information. Exams and papers are very fair. I would 100% recommend this course for Spanish majors to take before you graduate! It is enthralling!

Ricardo Padron is an excellent professor. His lectures and readings tend towards the theoretical, but he always aims to base his claims in concrete examples. This course really provides a new understanding of the Conquest. However, he focuses on maps entirely too much simply because it is a personal interest. Overall, a good course despite the tough readings and hard grading.
