This class was hard because of the amount of reading we had to do. There is a narrative unit, a theater unit, a novel unit, and a poetry unit. Poetry was by far the most difficult- we didn't have an exam on it but our final paper had to be a poetry analysis. I would recommend this class to Spanish majors, but it's kind of hard if you are just looking for any random Spanish class. Barlow is a really good teacher and her classes really flew by- not boring at all!

Barlow is incredibly kind and understanding, and also asked really interesting questions during class discussions. She usually takes a feminist perspective, which was a first for me in a lit class, but it was really interesting. Class was not too difficult, but a steady stream of work-- daily readings and comments as well as 3-4 longer papers. Also, she specializes in old (1600s?) Spanish writing, so many of the readings are a little hard to understand.
